Ross Taylor of New Zealand on the way to his half century
And later New Zealand in West Indies 2nd test day 2 will be starts soon. In day 1 West Indies won the toss and choose to field first. An excellent day for West Indies and they have completely outplayed New Zealand here. At one stage Guptill and Taylor were batting brilliantly, but they lost wickets in a heap after tea and that paved way for a West Indian comeback.

Guptil scores a half century too
New Zealand batsmen will be a disappointed lot as many of them got out to poor shots. For West Indies, Roach was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 wickets and he was ably supported by Best and Deonarine. Their openers have survived a tricky short spell today and will be looking to bat big tomorrow and bat New Zealand out of the game. West Indies trail by 249 runs with 10 wickets remaining in the 1st innings. The summary of the match is below :

INDIA VS SRI LANKA 2ND ODI OF MICROMAX SERIES

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Match Report

Sri Lanka Blow India In 2nd ODI

Sri Lanka Make India Ashamed

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI
That seals a comprehensive win for Sri Lanka in 2nd ODI. They have absolutley demolished India in 2nd ODI and have come back in a very strong manner. After skittling India out for a low score, the Sri Lankans made merry with the bat and piled on the pressure right from the start. Dilshan played his natural game by going after the bowling while Tharanga displayed some immaculate timing.

This is India's second worst defeat in terms of balls remaining 181. Their worst was also against
Sri Lanka, 209 balls in Dambulla in 2010. Let's not forget that hammering in Sharjah where they were bowled out for 54, though they were chasing on that occasion. Just shows how Sri Lanka have roasted India in the past.

So much talk about the wind on the ground...must say the India was blown away. Bad dreams happen, but India shouldn't let this bring down their confidence ahead of the remaining games. The conditions in Colombo will be better. When they look back at this game, apart from analysing their batting flop, the wides will be scrutinised. Fourteen wides in 20 overs is unacceptable. Everyone struggled. After the impressive performance in the 1st ODI.

Thisara Perera Man of the Match in 2nd ODI
After loosing Indian skipper MS Dhoni says, "We lost too many wickets too quickly. After Virat fell, we lost too many. Very disappointed. We need to learn from our experiences and not think too much about these defeats. Gambhir batted really well. In the last 5 games we have had some good performances from our batsmen and bowlers."

After winning Mahela Jayawardene told the press, "It's funny what two days does to you. I thought we didn't field that well today. We have shown that we can bounce back, the guys have the hunger. I haven't seen Upul Tharanga bat like this in a while, his timing, his form. Good to see the old Upul. Isuru was a bit nervous, Thisara and Angelo did the job for us."

Thisara Perera has been named the Man of the Match. And he express his feelings like that, "Very happy with my performance. Have to thank my team-mates. My first priority is bowling. I don't think too much about my performance."

SOUTH AFRICA TOUR OF ENGLAND 2012

South Africa vs England 1st Test Report

South Africa Hammered England in 1st Test

South Africa Tour of England 1st Test Report

South Africa tour of England Test Series
South Africa, they have absolutely drubbed their opponents and have been better at all facts of the game. After batting extremely well to take the lead, their bowlers turned up and showed why they are the real deal. Dale Steyn was at his lethal best as he claimed five scalps and he got goos support from the leg spinner Imran Tahir.

The match will be remembered for the numerous records from South Africa. Amla became the first South African batsman to score a triple hundred, in the process he overtook AB de Villiers to become the highest individual scorer for his team. Jacques Kallis continued on his merry run, he now has 43 Test tons to his credit. The bowlers then joined in the party. On a pitch that held no demons for the batsmen, Dale Steyn and company did excellently well to grab the 20 wickets. A nice little present to their skipper, Graeme Smith who celebrated his 100th Test with a century as well as a Test win. The visitors have also broken the jinx of the Kia Oval, this is their 1st win in 14 atttempts.

Ian Bell trying to make a draw for England
South Africa will look to wrap up the first Test against England when they go into the fifth and final day at the Kia Oval on Monday. England will resume the day on 102 for 4 in their second innings, still trailing the South Africans by 150 runs. Comeback man Ravi Bopara (15) and Ian Bell (14) are at the crease and face a Herculean task of fetching a draw for England. The fourth day on Sunday belonged to the visitors with Hashim Amla (311 not out) becoming the first South African player ever to score a triple ton. Veteran genius Jacques Kallis also made 182 not out as the visitors piled up 637 for 2 declared. The hosts were awful during their batting in the second innings losing captain Andrew Strauss (27), Alastair Cook (0), Jonathan Trott (10) and Kevin Pietersen (16) cheaply. Dale Steyn turned out to be the chief destroyer in England’s second innings. The fast bowler picked up 5 for 56 to have the match figures of 7 for 155. Legspinner Imran Tahir too grabbed three wickets. Morne Morkel and Vernon Philander shared one wicket apiece.
Hashim Amla to his massive triple tons

South Africa, dominant since the start of the second day, secured an innings and 12-run victory at the Kia Oval as they broke the back of some stubborn England resistance either side of the new ball on the final afternoon. Ian Bell and Matt Prior had given the home side hope, but Imran Tahir broke the stand and Dale Steyn then steamed in to finish with 5 for 56.

The result was nothing less than South Africa deserved for a performance that confirmed what a formidable team they are and they achieved it on a ground where they had not won in 13 previous attempts. Indifferent on the first day, they barely put a foot wrong from the moment they rattled England on Friday morning. Showing the benefit of a finely balanced attack including pace, swing, seam, accuracy and spin, they did not fret when resistance was being put up.

It was England's first home defeat since losing to Pakistan, on the same ground Kia Oval, in 2010 and their first innings loss since facing South Africa, at Johannesburg, earlier that same year. For South Africa, it continues their run of taking the series lead each time in England since readmission although it is the first time they have won the opening Test since 1994.

Dale Steyn gets another wicket
After loosing England skipper Andrew Strauss says, 'South Africa played some outstanding cricket after Day 1. They deserve all the credit. Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis were outstanding. We did not make use of a good platform on the second day. We have lessons to learn and hopefully we will do so before the next Test. The wicket was pretty good even today, credit to their bowlers who kept constant pressure on us. We need to learn from this Test. I believe that we have an outstanding bowling attack, I am confident that they can take 20 wickets on any track (obviously, not on this). Their batsmen stuck to their task and did not give us much of a chance. Scoring 300 on any pitch is always a great job, Hashim Amla was fantastic. Our preparations were good, we have no excuses on that front. I believe that we can come back and win the next 2 Tests.'

Dale Steyn makes his five wicket
And South African skipper Graeme Smith told at media, 'Extremely proud to have won the 1st Test in the series, especially after what happened on Day 1. I feel we did not bowl all that badly on the first day. Credit to our bowlers, they came back well after the first day. The conditions did help us, but we stuck to our task. We have a batting unit that can perform anywhere in the world. Hashim Amla was amazing, great job done by him. We know that conditions will be very different at Headingley, we are prepared for that.'

Hashim Amla announced man of the match for his excellent not out triple tons. Hashim Amla says, 'It has been a great experience to bat in this line-up. Nice to get a triple under my belt. I have learnt a lot from my seniors in the team. Batting with Jacques Kallis is an education. He is one of the best when it comes to batting, I have learnt a lot playing with him. Graeme Smith is another batsman with whom I enjoy batting. Swann was bowling very well and we wanted to make sure that he does not pick up early wickets. Batting is an art, it is all about constructing an innings. I hope that I will continue to bat well in the remainder of the series.'

South Africa won by an innings and 12 runs.

Imran Tahir gets another wicket
The Test series was built up as the fight for the World No. 1 rankings. The 1st Test however was a bit of a dampener on that front with South Africa hardly breaking a sweat before romping home by an innings.

The Test series takes a 10 day break before these two teams line up for the 2nd Test at Headingley on August 2nd.

Do join us for all the action. For now, cheers and bye from Kia Oval.

INDIA VS SRI LANKA 1ST ODI OF MICROMAX SERIES

India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI Report

India Wins Over Sri Lanka In 1st ODI

India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI of Micromax Series

India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI

Phew! India made a meal of this in the final overs. Sangakkara played a wonderful knock and Thisara chipped in with a wonderful cameo. But, in the end, the asking rate was too much and Sri Lanka were always behind the eight ball. Malinga got some batting practice towards the end. Barring Irfan Pathan who bowled well, all the Indian bowlers were carted around. The Indian fielding was also very sloppy and they have a lot of work to do ahead of the second ODI.
One must say that Sangakkara's knock made a difference in a strange way. He batted too slowly as he got to his hundred and the asking rate mounted. When the time came to accelerate, it was too late.
It was a very good match to watch and its a day for Team India. As a result India led the 5-match series 1-0.

India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI
After the match Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene says, 'It was a tense match. We had some big hitters towards the end but we left it a bit too much. It was hard coming back against a quality side like India. It was important to try and set up a platform. Sangakkara was setting up a platform and looked to battle through. We did not have momentum coming into the last 10 overs. There were a lot of positives but there were a lot of casualties. Kulasekara and Malinga are the two key guys in the powerplay. We made some mistakes while fielding and we will learn from this defeat. We have been playing some good cricket and we need to brush up on certain areas.'

Indian skipper MS Dhoni share his view about the match after the match, 'The rustiness was not there. The death bowling needs to improve. Zaheer was good and Irfan did very well. If he bats well and bowls well, it gives us the stability. Without Yuvraj or Jadeja, it is hard to find the stability in both batting and bowling in the team. All the bowlers have their own variations and we have to back ourselves to execute our strengths. Gambhir was unfortunate to get out that way but Sehwag and Kohli batted well. We were lacking some firepower down the order. It is important for the batsmen to carry on once settled in. I was practising the toss for one and a half months. This toss was crucial and the wicket was difficult to bat on in the second innings. Sangakkara batted well but he ran out of partners.'

Kohli Man of The Match
Kohli announced the man of the match for his extra ordinary century. Kohli scored 106 in 113 balls. He says about his performance, ' I have been working hard. I hope to be consistent for the team this season. Performing for the country is of utmost importance and I look to give my best for the country. Doing well in Australia boosted my confidence. I was more sure of my game and that Test hundred gave me a lot of confidence.'

BANGLADESH WASH OUT IRELAND

Bangladesh White-wash Ireland

Bangladesh vs Ireland 3rd T20 Match Report

Bangladesh vs Ireland 3rd T20 Update

Tigers won The Series
What a finish again. One run yesterday and last ball today! I think that we have all got our breath back after the end of the game. Bangladesh win the last game by two wickets and so win the series 3-0. The truth is in the last 2 games it was much closer then that.
Superb show from Bangladesh. They seemed to be down and out at one stage, but fought back superbly. Mashrafe was the man. He followed up his 4 wickets with some blistering blows to seal the isue. Bangladesh are now ranked at No. 4 in the ICC table above the likes of Pakistan, Australia, India, New Zealand and West Indies.Mortaza has been named Man of the Match for both his bowling and his batting. He took 4-19 and then hit a quick fire 30 off 13 balls, which won Bangladesh the match today.

Bangladesh didn't have a good start. They lose early wickets. Opener Tamim Iqbal gone without scoring runs, following him Shakib Al Hasan gone at 32 scoring only 11 runs. But Ashraful and Nasir Hossain pick it up for Bangladesh. Ashraful scores 38 of 46 and Nasir Hossain scores 50 of 33 with four boundary and two over boundary. This two innings help Bangladesh to make a defend-able score.
Nasir Hossain Man of the Match
Ireland kept the required rate under check for most parts of the chase but couldn't quite finish it off. Stirling, Joyce and Wilson got starts but at least one of them should have carried on and seen them through. But what a spell by Mahmudullah! He completely changed the equation in favor of Bangladesh. He gave just 4 runs in the 18th over and followed it up with a brilliant final over to help Bangladesh clinch the series.
Man of the Match Nasir Hossain(Bangladesh):- Runs:50 - Balls:33 - 4s:4 - 6s:2 - SR:151.51. Bangladesh led the 3-match T20 series 2-0 Thats all from us. Thanks for staying tunes. Join us for the third T20 between Bangladesh and Ireland. Untill then Good bye.
